At the heart of the estate is a specialty Arabica coffee enterprise of SL 28, Ruiru 11, and Batian varieties.

Primary Processing

Ripe cherries are selectively handpicked, sorted, and undergo 12–24 hour fermentation before being graded through clean-water washing channels.

Sun Drying

Wet parchment is sun-dried on raised wooden beds for 7–10 days with frequent turning to avoid quality defects.

Milling, Cupping & Roasting

• In-house dry hulling to cut production costs

Launched in 2026, the GHIC is a state-of-the-art, solar-powered facility acting as an industrial manufacturing hub.

Green Ammonia Fertilizer

Solar-powered water electrolysis produces green ammonia fertilizer annually, completely replacing expensive imported nitrogen-based fertilizers for the 825-acre coffee crop.

Medical-Grade Oxygen

As a direct byproduct, the facility captures, purifies and sells 56.4 million litres of medical-grade oxygen per year to the neighbouring Consolata Hospital Mathari and regional health facilities.

The project monetizes ecological restoration through structural environmental contracts and tree production.

Seedling Production

Commercial nurseries have successfully scaled and deployed over one million trees across Nyeri Hill over the last two years.

Paid Tending Contracts

Local youth and residents are hired under an "incentivized stewardship" model, receiving steady cash stipends to plant, monitor and nurse the growing forest cover.

As climate variability affects land crops, the project invests heavily in modern aquaculture.

Commercializing the harvesting and processing of indigenous plants, such as wild stinging nettle (Hatha), into dried health powders and natural vegetable products for health-conscious Kenyan consumer markets.

Over the past two years, RODI Kenya has spearheaded the planting of over one million trees at Nyeri Hill. This aims to restore local water catchment areas, combat climate change, and revitalize the local ecosystem.

The initiative directly tackles local unemployment by hiring and training hundreds of local youth to plant, monitor and nurture the newly grown trees, with weekly M-Pesa stipends disbursed upon GPS verification of planting milestones.

RODI provides Nyeri's smallholder coffee farmers with hands-on training in chemical-free, organic farming — including Bokashi biofertilizer formulation and ash-brew pest management to eliminate dependence on expensive synthetic inputs.
